What Zi Wei synastry is
It is built on two charts that are already cast, so both birth dates and times must be right. A single chart shows how one life divides into twelve palaces; synastry shows how the two sets of palaces relate — the same star landing in someone’s spouse palace or their travel palace reads very differently, and that only becomes visible when both charts sit together.
What the chart contains
Twelve palaces mirrored
Life palace against life palace, spouse palace against spouse palace, and so on, reporting the branch relation: same, six-combination, three-harmony, opposition, harm or punishment. Some pairs match two rules at once and both are listed.
Annual transformations
Where each person’s transformation stars (wealth, power, fame, obstruction) land in the other chart, traced in both directions — always stating whose transformation, from which palace, into which.
Star overlays
Which palace of the other chart each person’s main stars fall into, in both directions. This is a distribution, not a verdict.
Element bureaus and stars
How the two element bureaus relate (generate, overcome, same), plus the main stars of each life and spouse palace.
Five themes

How it is computed
1.Cast both charts
Each birth record is cast with its own historical timezone into twelve palaces, main and auxiliary stars, and annual transformations — the same pipeline as the single chart.
2.Compare the branches
Matching palaces are compared branch by branch against the six-combination, three-harmony, opposition, harm and punishment rules, all defined in code.
3.Follow the transformations
The year-stem table gives each transformation star, and its landing palace in the other chart is recorded.
4.Group into five themes
Mirrored palaces and transformations are grouped and counted. Everything is deterministic; nothing is weighted into a score.
Chart timezone: each birth time is cast with its own birthplace timezone (historical offsets and DST included), exactly as in the single chart. True solar time is off by default and can be enabled per person.
