What career direction and benefactors means
It splits two questions — where to push, and who helps — and reads them one system at a time. Zi Wei Dou Shu works through two palaces: the 官禄宫 (career palace) major stars give the direction and working style, the 仆役宫 (friends palace) gives where help tends to come from, and the 四化 landing on the career palace add weight. BaZi works through the ten gods: 官杀 sets the nature of the work and the authority attached to it, 财星 how you earn, 印星 your backing, 食伤 your output and 比劫 your peers, with 天乙贵人 for benefactors and the 大运 luck pillars for stages. Western astrology works through the Midheaven and 10th house: the MC sign sets the public image and direction, the 10th-house ruler’s placement says where the work actually comes from, Jupiter and the 11th house describe benefactors, and Saturn with the current transits covers the long lesson and the present stage. Vedic astrology works through the Karma Bhava (10th house): its sign sets the nature of the work, its ruler’s placement says where the work comes from, the D10 (Dasamsa) shows the professional shape, Jupiter (Guru) with the 9th and 11th houses describes benefactors, and the Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha give the stage. The output is a set of cues — never a specific job title, company or salary figure.
What the chart reads
Zi Wei: the 官禄宫 and 仆役宫
The 官禄宫 is the palace of career and office: its major stars set the direction (紫微 leans to leading and deciding, 天机 to planning and research, 武曲 to finance and industry, 七杀 and 破军 to pioneering). The 仆役宫 (friends palace) covers peers, subordinates and collaborators, and its major stars say where help tends to come from — resources, ideas, or someone who speaks up and coordinates for you. When either palace holds no major star, the opposite palace is borrowed and the result is labelled as borrowed; no star is invented to fill the gap.
Zi Wei: 四化 on the career palace
When a natal 四化 lands on the 官禄宫: 化禄 leans to tangible returns, 化权 to authority and pressure, 化科 to craft and reputation, 化忌 to fixation and rework. The transformations add weight to the palace-stars conclusion, never stand alone as a verdict, and are skipped entirely when absent.
BaZi: 官杀 and 财星
官杀 is the nature of the work: 正官 leans to steady positions with ranks and rules, 七杀 to pressure, competition and turnarounds, and both together amplify rules and pressure at once. 财星 is how you earn: 正财 steady operation and fixed income, 偏财 projects, commission and brokering. 印星 reads backing, 食伤 output and craft, 比劫 peers and partners. Stems and hidden stems are counted at the same weights as the site’s own BaZi chart.
BaZi: 天乙贵人 and the 大运 luck pillars
Benefactors come from 天乙贵人: a fixed table read from the day stem (甲戊庚 → 丑未, 乙己 → 子申, 丙丁 → 亥酉, 壬癸 → 卯巳, 辛 → 午寅), checked against the four branches. The pillar it lands on gives the layer of people: year the elders, month peers, day those closest to you, hour juniors. Stages come from the 大运 luck pillars: the ten gods of the running and next pillars are the themes put on the table, with annual pillars as a supporting trace only.
Western astrology: Midheaven, 10th house and Jupiter
The Midheaven (MC) sign sets the public image and direction, and the 10th cusp shares its degree. Where the 10th-house ruler sits says where the work actually comes from — the 8th leans to other people’s resources and deep water, the 7th to partners and clients, the 11th to groups and networks. The 6th house covers daily work; Jupiter, the traditional benefactor planet, shows the layer help arrives from; the 11th house adds the ally source; Saturn’s house is the long lesson; and transiting Saturn and Jupiter give the current stage by the natal house they occupy. House rulers use the classical rulers (Mars for Scorpio, Saturn for Aquarius, Jupiter for Pisces) with Placidus houses throughout.
Vedic astrology: Karma Bhava, the D10 and Guru
The 10th house is the Karma Bhava, the house of action: its sign sets the nature of the work and its occupants add another layer. Where the 10th-house ruler sits says where the work comes from; in the 6th, 8th or 12th — the dusthanas — the traditional reading carries service, crisis or distance from home. The D10 (Dasamsa) is the divisional chart read specifically for professional shape, taken here from its rising sign. Benefactors come from Jupiter (Guru, the teacher and benefic) and from the placement of the 9th (Dharma) and 11th (Labha, gains) house rulers. Stages come from the Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha: when the running lord rules or occupies the career house, career themes are formally put on the table. Houses are whole-sign, the zodiac is sidereal (Lahiri by default), and the ayanamsa used is listed with the chart.
How this reading is built
1.Pick one system
Zi Wei Dou Shu or BaZi — only one runs at a time. The two use genuinely different rules, so blending them only dilutes each.
2.Share one birth record
Date (solar or lunar), exact birth time, birthplace and gender are entered once. True Solar Time is on by default (BaZi uses it for the day and hour pillars; some Zi Wei schools use it for the Life and Body palaces) — turn it off to chart by recorded clock time.
3.Read it that system’s way
Zi Wei takes the 官禄宫 and 仆役宫 stars, borrowing from the opposite palace when empty. BaZi takes the ten gods of the four pillars: 官杀 for authority, 财星 for income, 天乙贵人 for benefactors and the 大运 for stages. Western astrology takes the Midheaven and the 10th-house ruler, with Jupiter for benefactors and Saturn plus transits for stages. Vedic astrology takes the Karma Bhava sign and its ruler’s placement, with the D10 for professional shape, Jupiter for benefactors and the dasha for stages.
4.Then let AI explain it
The AI reads only the computed whitelisted fields, never re-casts a chart, cites its evidence, and takes follow-ups.
5.Then the career timeline
The same system’s criteria are applied period by period, over a horizon you choose on the ask page (1, 3 or 5 years; also switchable on the chart page): BaZi and Zi Wei work year by year (with the luck pillar or decade as background), Western astrology uses transits of Jupiter and Saturn, Vedic uses the mahadasha and antardasha. If a system yields no windows, that block simply does not render.
Calculation policy: timezone comes from the birthplace (Asia/Shanghai, UTC+8 for mainland China), with historical offsets and daylight saving restored. True Solar Time is on by default — it drives the BaZi day and hour pillars and, in some Zi Wei schools, the Life Palace (命宫) and Body Palace (身宫); turn it off to chart by recorded clock time. Western and Vedic astrology do not use True Solar Time but do require birthplace coordinates, without which the Ascendant and houses cannot be cast. Day boundaries are decided by each engine.
What the result shows
The result leads with the conclusion this system produced, then exposes the fields you can check and the coming years.
- Three blocks: career direction, benefactor type and what to watch at work.
- Evidence: for Zi Wei the 官禄宫 and 仆役宫 stars; for BaZi the day master, structure, 官杀/财星 and the running luck pillar; for Western astrology the Midheaven, 10th-house ruler, Jupiter, Saturn and the current transits; for Vedic astrology the Lagna, the Karma Bhava ruler, the D10 rising sign, Jupiter and the running dasha.
- A career timeline: the next three years as month-range windows with strength, the two strongest marked, and the criteria written under each one.
- The conventions are stated in the result — borrowed palaces, the 天乙贵人 table, the house rulers and house system, and the Vedic ayanamsa all name their source.
- An AI reading that cites these fields and nothing else.
- A statement of the traditional framework’s limits.
Common questions
- What is this tool good for?
- It is good for questions like “which direction should I push in”, “what kind of collaborators fit me” and “where does the same problem keep coming back at work”. It is not built for a specific job title, company, salary or reorganisation — that is outside this method.
- Can I base career decisions on it?
- Not as the only input. It is a set of cues inside a traditional framework: useful for direction and blind spots, while real career decisions also rest on your skills, industry and contract terms. It is not a substitute for professional, legal or financial advice.
- What if the four systems disagree?
- They will, and that is expected — one reads palaces, one the ten gods, one the Midheaven and transits, one the Karma Bhava and dasha. Start with the one that fits best, or run them all and compare, rather than forcing a compromise answer.
- What if the career palace is empty, or there is no 天乙贵人?
- It still reads. An empty Zi Wei palace borrows the opposite palace’s major stars and is labelled as borrowed; with no 天乙贵人, the benefactor block falls back to 印星 (backing) and 比劫 (peers) and says which convention it used.
- Does the AI cast the chart itself?
- No. The deterministic Zi Wei or BaZi engine casts it first, and the AI receives only whitelisted, pre-computed fields and must cite them by fact id. It never re-casts a chart or fills in a missing birth time.
- Is the timeline predicting specific dates?
- No. The timeline only gives month-granularity tendencies: which stretch is more likely to put career themes on the table and which is better for building. It promises nothing about a particular day and predicts no specific job, company or personnel outcome — the criteria behind every window are listed underneath so you can check them.
