Why do you stop at gate and line?

Because the confidence differs. A gate is 5.625° and a line 0.9375°, which any mature ephemeris nails; a base is 18.75 arc-seconds and needs a birth time to the second. Tone and base are shown but never used as evidence.

What Human Design is

Human Design describes how energy moves through gates, channels and nine centers. A channel is complete only when both end gates are activated; completed channels define the centers. Type asks whether the Sacral is defined and whether a motor reaches the Throat; inner authority asks which center you listen to when deciding. You read structure and how you operate, not a timetable of events.

Manifestor, Generator, Manifesting Generator, Projector, Reflector. The test is narrow: is the Sacral defined, and is a motor connected to the Throat? Type describes how to start things, not how capable you are.

Inner authority

Where decisions come from, taken in fixed priority: Emotional > Sacral > Splenic > Ego > Self-Projected > Environmental; Reflectors use the lunar cycle.

Profile

The personality Sun line over the design Sun line (3/5, 5/1 and so on) — the style you move through groups with.

Nine centers, 36 channels

A channel counts only when both end gates are activated, and a center is defined only through a defined channel. Centers are not counted from gates.

The 64-gate mandala

The gates sit on the zodiac in a fixed order, each 5.625° wide with six 0.9375° lines. The order and the start point are public fixed data.

How the chart is cast

1.Restore the birth instant
Historical timezone offsets and daylight saving are restored to a UTC instant. Human Design does not apply true solar time.
2.Take thirteen activations
Sun, Earth (Sun +180°), Moon, the nodes, and Mercury through Pluto, taken as geocentric apparent longitudes. The node is the true node. The personality side uses the birth instant.
3.Solve the design instant
A bisection finds the instant when the Sun was exactly 88° earlier; the same thirteen positions are taken there. This is a numerical solution, not an estimate.
4.Derive the judgement layer
Gates → complete channels → defined centers → type, authority, definition and profile. All set logic.
5.Charting and reading
The chart first computes gates, channels, centers, type and authority. The AI reading only explains those already-calculated fields: it does not invent a missing birth time or change the type.

Timezone: the recorded clock time is converted to a UTC instant using the birthplace timezone (Asia/Shanghai by default for mainland China). Nothing beyond that is needed — type and authority depend only on which gates are activated.
