A composite — also called a connection chart — asks what appears once two bodygraphs are stacked: the union of both gate sets may define centers neither person defines alone; a gate in one chart joining a gate in the other becomes an electromagnetic channel; channels defined in both are companionship; and a full channel in one chart against a single gate in the other is the condition the literature reads as compromise or dominance. No score is produced.

What a composite is

It is built on two bodygraphs that are already cast, so both birth times must be right (to the minute; the design side is solved at 88° of solar arc before birth). It does not average the two charts. It performs three set operations: the union (composite), the intersection (companionship), and a one-way containment (compromise and dominance). That is also why it is the hardest of the matchmaking tools to argue with: no weights, no school-dependent tables, and the same input always gives the same result.

What the chart contains

Composite and type

The union of both gate sets becomes a third chart. When a complete channel appears in the union, the pair defines a center, a type and an authority that neither person has alone. Centers still open in the composite are listed too.

Electromagnetic channels

Channels where one gate sits in one chart and the other gate in the other — neither can complete them alone. Every entry says which gate belongs to whom, so each line can be checked.

Companionship and shared gates

Channels defined in both charts, plus gates both people hold. This is the layer where the two charts resonate without either one adding anything.

Compromise and dominance

One chart carries the full channel while the other holds a single gate of it. The literature describes this same condition as both compromise and dominance, with differing names and directions; this chart reports the structure and does not pick a reading.

All nine centers, three ways

Each center is shown as defined or open for person A, person B and the composite, marking where one side is defined against an open other, and where a center only becomes defined together. An open center is a receiver, never a defect.

How it is computed

  1. 1.Cast both bodygraphs

    Each birth record is restored through its birthplace timezone to a UT instant; the design side is solved at 88° of solar arc before birth, giving 13 activations and a gate set per person — the same pipeline as the single Human Design chart.

  2. 2.Union into a composite

    The two gate sets are merged to re-derive complete channels, defined centers, type, authority and the number of definition splits.

  3. 3.Classify every channel

    Defined in both charts means companionship; defined in one chart while the other holds a single gate means the condition the literature reads as compromise or dominance; undefined in both but split across the two charts means an electromagnetic channel.

  4. 4.Compare all nine centers

    Every center is reported three ways (A, B, composite) as defined or open, with the still-open centers counted. Everything is a set operation; nothing becomes a score.

Chart timezone: each birth moment is restored through its own birthplace historical timezone (DST included) to a UT instant. Human Design applies no true-solar-time correction; the design side is solved for the moment the Sun was 88° earlier, exactly as in the single chart.

Why is there no score, and no Penta?
Human Design has no scoring system, so none is invented here. The Penta used for teams and families needs a fixed gate set, and published gate sets disagree — the same reason the Vedic Vashya and Yoni kutas are excluded — so it is left out and stated on the chart.
