Career Timing: which stretch to push, and which to hold

Career Timing answers "when", not "what". It runs one system at a time: BaZi reads the annual ten gods and the 天乙贵人 table, Zi Wei the annual career palace and the decade, Western astrology transits of Jupiter and Saturn to the natal Midheaven, and Vedic the Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha — the stretches that light up are the ones that system calls open.

What career timing is

It slices the coming years into stretches and rates how likely each one is to put career themes on the table. BaZi reads the annual stem against the day master (the ten gods), whether the annual branch combines or clashes with the day branch, and whether it lands on the day stem’s 天乙贵人. Zi Wei derives the annual career palace from the annual Life palace and checks it against the natal career palace, its 三方四正 triad, the annual transformations and the ten-year decade. Western astrology scans transits of Jupiter and Saturn to the Midheaven, the 10th-house ruler and natal Saturn, month by month. Vedic lays out the Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha to see whether the running lord rules or occupies the Karma Bhava. The output is a stretch of months — never a specific day or outcome.

What each system reads

BaZi: annual ten gods and 天乙贵人

The annual stem read against the day master gives the ten god: 正官 for position and formal standing, 七杀 for pressure and turnarounds, 正财/偏财 for income and resources, 正印/偏印 for credentials and backing, 食伤 for output and 比劫 for peers. The annual branch is then read against the day branch (combination or clash) and against the 天乙贵人 table of the day stem, all layered on the running luck pillar.

Zi Wei: the annual career palace and the decade

The annual Life palace derives the annual career palace. If it lands back on the natal career palace, or inside its 三方四正 triad (Life, Wealth, Spouse), the year leans career. Whether its stars match the natal career palace and whether the annual transformations land on the career house (禄权科 add, 忌 subtracts) decides the strength, with the ten-year decade as background.

Western astrology: transiting Jupiter and Saturn

Month by month, transiting Jupiter and Saturn are checked against the natal Midheaven, the 10th-house ruler and natal Saturn. Jupiter’s conjunction, sextile and trine open windows for resources and visibility; Saturn’s easy aspects are windows for structure and credentials; Saturn’s hard aspects apply pressure and slow the pace.

Vedic: mahadasha and antardasha

The Vimshottari mahadasha and antardasha are laid out as one timeline: when the running lord rules the Karma Bhava (career house) or occupies it, career themes are formally put on the table; when the running lord is Jupiter (Guru), mentors and opportunities appear. An antardasha usually lasts months to a couple of years — about the natural length of one career window.

How the timeline is built

  1. 1.Pick one system

Zi Wei, BaZi, Western or Vedic astrology — only one runs at a time. The four use genuinely different timing criteria, so blending them only dilutes each.

  2. 2.One birth record

Date (solar or lunar), exact birth time, birthplace and gender are entered once. True Solar Time is on by default (BaZi for the day and hour pillars, some Zi Wei schools for the Life and Body palaces); Western and Vedic astrology also need birthplace coordinates.

  3. 3.Score it stretch by stretch

Each stretch is scored with that system’s own criteria: BaZi and Zi Wei year by year (with the luck pillar or decade as background), Western astrology by transit, Vedic by dasha. Three years by default, adjustable.

  4. 4.Then let AI explain it

The AI reads only the whitelisted timeline facts, never re-casts a chart and never invents dates, cites its evidence, and takes follow-ups about a specific window.

Calculation policy: timezone comes from the birthplace (Asia/Shanghai, UTC+8 for mainland China), with historical offsets and daylight saving restored. True Solar Time is on by default — it drives the BaZi day and hour pillars and, in some Zi Wei schools, the Life Palace (命宫) and Body Palace (身宫); turn it off to chart by recorded clock time. Western and Vedic astrology do not use True Solar Time but do require birthplace coordinates, without which the Ascendant and houses cannot be cast.

What the result shows

The result leads with the timeline itself, then the criteria and the moves you can check.

  • The coming years as a list of month-range windows with strength and the two strongest marked.
  • The criteria behind each window: which annual ten god, which annual career palace, which transit, which dasha lord.
  • A "what to do" line per window, derived from those criteria rather than generic advice.
  • The starting point and evidence: the system used, the horizon, the day master and luck pillar (or the Lagna and 10th-house ruler).
  • An AI reading that cites these fields and nothing else.
  • A statement of the traditional framework’s limits.

Common questions

What is this tool good for?
It is good for "when should I move, and when should I hold": changing jobs, pushing for a title in the next couple of years, or which stretch is better for building. It is not built for a specific job, company, salary or a day on the calendar.
Can I base job-change decisions on it?
Not as the only input. It is a set of timing tendencies inside a traditional framework: useful for pacing, while real decisions also rest on your skills, industry and contract terms. It is not a substitute for professional, legal or financial advice.
Is the timeline predicting specific dates?
No. It only gives month-granularity tendencies: which stretch is more likely to put career themes on the table and which is better for building. It promises nothing about a particular day, and the criteria behind every window are listed underneath so you can check them.
How is this different from Career Direction & Benefactors?
That tool answers "where to push and who helps" from static placements (the 官禄宫, the ten gods, the Midheaven, Karma Bhava). This one answers only "when", from annual pillars, transits and dashas. They share the same systems and the same birth record, so you can read both and compare.
What if the four systems disagree?
They will, and that is expected — the four use different timing criteria. Start with the one that fits best, or run them all and compare, rather than forcing a compromise answer.
