The annual layer is one year laid over the decade and the natal chart. It says which palace is louder this year. It does not say which day something happens.

A year is the shorter layer

A yearly reading wants three layers in hand: the natal palaces and stars, which palace the current decade brings forward, and which palace this year brings forward. With all three, you can see what older matter this year’s noise is sticking to. A year without the natal chart becomes a horoscope column.

Annual transformations are the ones printed

Some engines mark annual transformations, some do not. If they are marked, you may discuss what extra mode those four stars carry this year, and you still name the palace. If they are not marked, do not paste a table of unknown origin. The annual four is not a copy of the natal four unless the chart happens to put both on the same star, in which case you say the two layers overlap.

Which palace is louder this year

You can say: this year the one-to-one palace is in front, the base is still Tian Xiang’s need to coordinate, and the public role is still inside this decade. It is not “a wedding this year” or “an argument on a named day.” The annual layer is not a daily forecast, and it does not overwrite the natal chart.

Common mistakes

  • Turning the annual layer into a daily forecast or a named day.
  • Letting the year cover the natal chart so only “this year” remains.
  • Adding four annual transformations from another table when the chart did not print them.

Frequently asked questions

Year and decade on the same palace: is that more serious?

It means the palace is especially forward this year, inside a decade that may already have been watching it or another palace. How heavy it is still depends on the stars, not on the overlap of names.

Can I ask about the year and skip the natal chart?

No. The year is a layer on top. Without the natal palace there is no base for this year’s theme.

Can the annual layer choose a date?

No. It does not name a day, and it cannot choose a day for surgery, a contract, or a trip.
