What this section is for
Reading only the self palace turns a star into an isolated personality. This section states what the opposite, the trine, and a neighbor are, and what they are not.
The four trines are Life–Wealth–Career, Siblings–Health–Property, Spouse–Travel–Fortune, and Children–Friends–Parents. The opposite is the palace six cells away.
What to read first
Read opposites and neighbors first, and separate a borrowed star from mere sequence. Then read the san fang si zheng essay, which turns “which four palaces you must name before a topic is finished” into steps.
The “which palaces to read with it” section on each palace page uses this geometry. Without it, those sentences land in the wrong set.
When you have to leave for a chart
The geometry is structure, not your personal result. Which branch holds your Life Palace still requires a chart.
Borrowing the opposite of an empty palace requires that the opposite on this chart actually holds a major star. Do not imagine a star from the geometry table.

Is san fang si zheng three palaces or four?
The trine is the self palace plus two others, three cells. Adding the opposite gives the four cells that have to be named together. The older essay uses san fang si zheng for that whole relation.
Must I memorise a trine for every palace?
Memorise the four sets. A palace’s opposite and trine can be read off its set. You do not need twelve separate lists.
Can the geometry judge luck by itself?
No. It only requires certain palaces to appear in the same sentence. Lucky and unlucky are not products of the geometry.
