The Life Palace is the cell that anchors the twelve names. The Body Palace is a second mark on the same chart, traditionally the domain used more after early life. The two marks can share a cell or sit apart.

The twelve earthly branches are fixed cells. The twelve palace names are labels that rotate once the Life Palace is known. Keep the fixed part and the moving part apart, or “Wu” and “Life” start to sound like two systems.

What this section is for
Beginners often name stars before the Life Palace, or treat the Body Palace as a second Life Palace. This section separates the anchors.
Branch cells are fixed and palace names move across them. Find the Life Palace cell first. Only then do the other palaces have a place.
What to read first
Read Life and Body first, and settle that the two anchors may share a cell or sit apart. Then read the branch ring and the palace names, and settle that a cell and a label are not the same object.
Only then open the individual palace pages. Their “which cell” and “which opposite” assume you have accepted this order.
When you have to leave for a chart
The Body Palace rule hangs on a chart that has already been cast. Without a chart there is no Body Palace to check.
Do not sketch a chart by hand in place of the tool. Star placement and the transformation table follow what the engine prints.
What this section does not say
Do not treat palaces as Western house cusps.
Do not place stars before the Life Palace is known.
The Body Palace is not a soul palace or the south node.

- Reporting a Body Palace star as if it were in the Life Palace.

Which of Life or Body is “me”?
Neither is an identity card. Life is the cell the names start from. Body is the other anchor. Name the cell in the sentence.
Are the moving palace names the annual luck?
No. What moves on the natal chart is the label. The annual layer is a time layer on top, and it lives in the timing section.
Can I learn the structure and never cast a chart?
You can learn as far as the order and the opposites. The moment you say a branch is your Life Palace, you need a chart.
