Natal transformations take the birth year’s stem, look up four stars, and hang lu, quan, ke, and ji on them. You then see which palaces those stars occupy. The transformation changes how the star acts. It does not swap the star for a different one.

A transformation changes how the star acts

A different year stem selects different stars. Jia’s lu is not Yi’s lu. You look the stem up. You do not feel which star is “more important.” After the lookup, keep the palace in the sentence: this star carries this transformation and sits in this palace. “There is a ji in the chart” says almost nothing.

What lu, quan, ke, and ji each change

Lu, in the traditional reading, is a cell that gathers more readily and follows the resource already at hand. Quan wants someone to decide and a rule to stand. Ke passes through reputation, documents, or being recognised. Ji is the same matter catching, repeating, or refusing to be put down. Those are modes of action, not four grades, and not four events already on a calendar.

Read it with the star’s palace

Illustration: the chart prints the Sun transforming as ji, and the Sun sits in Career. Career is the public role, the Sun lights other people first, and ji means being seen or being handed the job tends to catch and repeat. The full sentence is “the Sun in Career carries ji.” It is not “the job is lost this year.” Natal transformations are also not the annual set. Without a year stem the four stars cannot be looked up. This is not a legal or professional verdict.

Common mistakes

  • Saying there is a ji without naming the star and the palace.
  • Mixing the natal four with the annual or decade four.
  • Using lu, quan, ke, and ji as four grades of a life.

Frequently asked questions

Does a transformation replace the major star?

No. The Sun with ji is still the Sun. It has an extra mode: the matter catches more easily.

Can one star carry two transformations at once?

The natal set assigns four transformations to four stars. A self-transformation is a later reading, and only when the engine marks it.

Do people with the same year stem share the same four stars?

The four stars from the table match. Which palace each star occupies still depends on the personal chart, so the domain can be entirely different.
