Life Palace and Body Palace
The Life Palace is the cell that anchors the twelve names. The Body Palace is a second mark on the same chart, traditionally the domain used more after early life. The two marks can share a cell or sit apart.

The Life Palace anchors the names
Siblings, Spouse, Children, and the rest are named from the Life Palace outward. The major star in that cell describes how a person starts: deciding alone, using up the window, lighting other people first. Which sentence fits depends on the star that actually landed there. No Life Palace, and the other names have nowhere to stick.
The Body Palace is the cell used more later
Its rule hangs on a chart that has already been cast. It may share the Life Palace, or land in Career, Travel, Wealth, or another name. Sharing a cell means the starting domain and the later domain use the same stars. It does not mean a life stops changing. When they sit apart, name the palace you mean. A Body Palace star is not a Life Palace star.
The Body Palace is not the south node, and it is not a palace called “soul.”
A sentence when the two cells differ
Illustration: Life is on Zi and holds Tian Ji; the Body Palace falls in Career and holds the Sun. You can say: the starting cell is Tian Ji, quick to spend the window; the cell pushed forward later is the Sun in Career, which lights other people before it lights itself. Both clauses stay on a palace and a star. They do not become “a leadership job in later life.” Without an hour there is no Life Palace, and the Body Palace cannot be checked either.
Common mistakes
- Reporting a Body Palace star as if it sat in the Life Palace.
- Hearing a shared cell as a life with only one occupation.
- Matching the Body Palace to the south node or a “soul palace.”

Open tool →Frequently asked questions
Must the Body Palace differ from the Life Palace?
No. The rule can put them in one cell. Then you write that they coincide and read the stars in that cell.
Can I read the Body Palace and skip the Life Palace?
No. The Body Palace is marked after the Life Palace is placed. Without that anchor the second mark has nothing to attach to.
Body Palace in Career means a better career?
It means the later emphasis falls on the public-role cell. Whether that cell is easy depends on its stars, its opposite, and its trine, not on the palace name as a bonus.
