Each nakshatra is split into four padas
One pada is 3°20′. The Moon or the lagna can share a nakshatra and still sit in different padas, and the divisional cut follows. A pada is a finer position, not one of four ranks.

A gap of about 24 degrees is enough to move a planet into the next sign. Put that gap in the sentence when you set a tropical chart beside it.

Does the lagna have a nakshatra?
A sidereal degree for the lagna can fall in a nakshatra. Without a birth time there is no lagna, and no nakshatra should be invented for it.
Is a nakshatra the same as a BaZi branch?
No. A nakshatra is a segment of the sidereal ecliptic. A branch is a BaZi cell.
