Liu Yao fits one stated matter that can point at a useful god. It does not read a whole life, and it does not replace a medical, legal, or financial decision.

One cast, one matter
State the question before the coins. Changing it afterward is a different cast. Do not reuse the hexagram for the next question.
Stop when the useful god does not fit
If no line matches, do not end on lucky or unlucky. Do not recast until the line looks welcome.
Narrow a question that is too wide
Illustration: “Will my whole life go smoothly?” cannot take a useful god. “Will this object already sent come back?” can. After the narrowing it is still not a legal or financial guarantee.
Common mistakes
- Reusing one cast for many questions.
- Recasting for a preferred result.
- Replacing the useful god with the hexagram text.

Can the hexagram text be the conclusion?
Not alone. A conclusion returns to the useful god, shi and ying, and the moving lines.
Can it answer a medical question?
Do not use the cast to decide a diagnosis or a treatment. It is not medical advice.
Can it be mixed with Meihua?
No. One is six coin lines. The other is time or three numbers. Host and guest are not shi and ying.
