A Lenormand sentence comes from cards touching. The image on the left is often modified by the card on the right. Without a neighbor, a single card has not yet made a sentence.

Read the touching pair first
Letter beside Ship can be news on the way. Do not turn the two cards into two personalities. Left to right is the default.
The third card still belongs to one sentence
Three cards default to background, focus, and direction. Read how the pairs modify each other, then attach the third. Do not split them into three unrelated remarks.

Illustration: Ship on the left, Letter in the middle, Crossroads on the right. Write that news on the way reaches a fork. Do not turn them into three people, and do not turn them into a departure on a named day.

Can I draw only one card?
One card is an image and has no neighbor to modify it. The default here is three cards read together.
Does a lens change the neighbors?
The faces stay. A lens only changes the job of each position, and it is declared before the draw.
What about upright and reversed cards?
This deck has no reversals. Do not turn a card over and invent a second layer.
