Ten years a step, and the starting age is on the chart
The starting age and each step’s stem and branch are what the report prints. A different year boundary, day boundary, or true-solar-time switch can move the steps. Do not edit the ages from memory.
A year marker does not open a second birth chart
The tool marks years along the luck cycle. That year adds one stem-branch pair, so you can ask which element is heavier. It does not name a day, and it does not cover the natal chart.
One cycle plus one year
Illustration: wood is already heavy, one luck step is Geng metal, and one year inside it is marked Wu earth. You can say metal is heavier in this decade, and earth also shows up in that year’s marker. It is not “a career change succeeds this year” or “money is lost this year.”

Can BaZi ages be matched to Zi Wei decades?
Do not match them directly. One lays a stem and branch on the pillars. The other brings a palace forward. The starting rules differ.
Is every year printed?
Use the years the chart prints. Do not paste a stem and branch from another table for a year that was not marked.
Does gender change whether luck cycles run forward?
Traditional placement uses polarity and gender. Follow the direction and the ages the engine prints. Do not reverse the sequence yourself.
