The nine palaces are this board’s cells

The board is nine direction cells. The center and the eight sides carry stems, doors, and stars. Those symbols turn with the board. They are not printed forever on one direction. “Qi” is the three wonders Yi, Bing, and Ding. “Dun Jia” hides Jia among the six instruments. Those are symbols on the board, not three lucky objects.

The eight doors are channels, not eight lucky dates

Open, Rest, Life, Harm, Block, View, Death, and Fear traditionally carry tones: passage, pause, growth, damage, closure, display, ending, alarm. Which door sits in which palace is the board cast for that hour. Do not turn the eight doors into eight dates you may choose. The nine palaces are not Zi Wei’s twelve palaces and not Western houses.

One door in one palace

Illustration: this board places the Open Door in Li. Write: on the board of this hour, Open is in Li. Li is the cell. Open is the tone of the channel. It is not “today is suitable for going out to handle business.” If the question was not stated before the board was set, the door has no matter to meet. A Qi Men board also does not replace a birth chart.

Can one hour answer several questions?

One board belongs to one stated question. A new question needs a new board. Even inside the same hour, do not reuse the previous doors for the new question.

Is the Death Door simply unlucky?

Its traditional tone is ending and gathering-in. Which palace it occupies, and which question it faces, tell you what that tone sticks to. The door’s name alone is not a disaster.

Are the three wonders lucky objects?

Yi, Bing, and Ding are three stem symbols on the board. They are not three objects you can obtain.
